Arabian Gulf (Feb. 28, 2003) -- An F-14A “Tomcat” launches from one of four stream powered catapults aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk and Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) are operating with coalition forces in support of Operation Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom, and is the world’s only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier operating out of Yokosuka, Japan.
