Cape Chikyu (Chikyu Misaki), also spelled Chikiu, is a scenic coastal spot on the southernmost tip of Muroran on Etomo Peninsula. There's a nice lookout deck and white lighthouse. Considered to be one of Hokkaido's Top 100 scenic spots. From JR Bokoi Station, 35-min. walk or 10-min drive. By bus, get off at the Chikyu-Misaki Danchi stop. Nearby is the Tokkarisho and Charatsunai Scenic Points with stunning coastal views.

Mt. Sokuryo is a hilltop on the interior of Etomo Peninsula with 360˚ panoramic views of Muroran, including a bird's eye view of the North Nippon Works (Muroran) operated by Nippon Steel. The mountain is a 50-min. walk or 10-drive from JR Muroran Station. It's uphill, so going by car/taxi is recommended.
